Author and Artist Amelie Snowdon
Amelie Snowdon has lived in Lansdowne since she was two years old. She is a proud graduate of Lansdowne Elementary, Avalon Junior High, and Strathcona High School. She is currently a first year student in the Bachelor of Fine Art and Design Program at the University of Alberta.
Amelie is the recipient of the 2023 B'nai Brith Diverse Minds writing competition for her children's book, The Last Garden, which she wrote and illustrated. The competition invited high school students from across Canada to create a book which celebrates diversity and inclusion.
Amelie's book has been published, and distributed to over 150 schools in Edmonton. The Last Garden is a story about a gardener who makes new and interesting friends on her journey to save Earth's last living flower.
In addition to writing and drawing, Amelie loves to paint. One of her favourite painting buddies is her cousin Norah, who lives down the street from her. Amelie's series of acrylic paintings was displayed at the Roxy Theatre as part of NextFest 2023.
When she's not creating art, Amelie loves to play ringette and she enjoys walking through the river valley with her dog, Sammy.
